Misconceptions about Scholarships and Financial Aid
在台灣，申請獎學金的條件較為單一，通常是以學業成績或經濟需求為主。
在美國，私立與文理大學獎學金更重視學生多元發展，包含校外活動、領導才能、品格特質、服務貢獻……。
同時也因應學校目標，例如: 學生組成比例、特定領域扶持、人才培養策略、州政策……。
足夠了解學校政策、文化、目標即具有很大機會申請獎助學金。
In Taiwan, the criteria for applying for scholarships are relatively straightforward, usually focusing on academic performance or financial need.
In the United States, scholarships at private and liberal arts colleges place greater emphasis on a student’s overall development, including extracurricular activities, leadership skills, character traits, community service, and more.
They also align with the specific goals of the institution, such as student body composition, support for certain fields, talent development strategies, and state policies.
Having a good understanding of a school’s policies, culture, and goals greatly increases your chances of receiving scholarships and financial aid.
優異表現獎學金 Merit-Based Scholarships
範例：許多美國大學根據國際學生的學術或運動成就，提供部分或全額獎學金
Award corresponding scholarships based on students' academic performance, leadership abilities, participation in extracurricular activities, or other individual achievements and talents in various fields.
Example: Many U.S. universities provide partial or full scholarships to international students based on their academic or athletic achievements.
學術 Academic
頒發給擁有優秀學術成績的學生，通常要求高GPA或出色的標準化考試分數。
Awarded to students with outstanding academic performance, typically requiring a high GPA or excellent standardized test scores.
運動 Athletic
頒發給具備體育才華的學生，這些學生能為大學的運動隊做出貢獻。
